An Alphabetical List of Possible Goals for Your E-VOUS
Diet: Meals seem to be dictated by circumstance rather than will: hunger, time, availability, menus, spouses, parents. We often throw up our hands and say it’s not our fault that we can’t eat healthily. Set a goal to cut out fast food. Or try eating all-organic foods for a month, to see if you feel better. Or simply follow a well-balanced diet like Weight Watchers. You don’t have to lose weight to eat healthy.
Exercise: Exercise can be tedious, exhilarating, and exhausting, all at the same time. Depending on our mood, we might look forward to exercising, or dread it. If we set a daily goal, it eventually becomes easier to make it part of our routine.
Fear: Fear is the poison of life and the only way to overcome it is to face it. Set a goal to face one fear each day, and soon you will find the world an easier place to breathe in.
Finances: Whether you are looking to earn more, or spend less, keeping an eye on your budget can help reduce stress and open up new opportunities in life. You can set goals for spending, saving, balancing your checkbook, and more.
Floss: Whether it wasn’t engrained at a young age, or they just don’t have time, many people do not floss as often as they brush. Make a goal to floss each time you brush.
Homework: Homework might not be a lot of fun, but is a necessary part of education. Don’t wait until the last minute to finish it. Set goals to work on it a little bit each day.
Love: Taking the time to tell someone we love them is as important as having that relationship in the first place. Not only do we feel better after expressing our feelings, but the other person feels better knowing they are loved. Try setting a goal to tell your family and friends you love them.
Meditation: Meditation acts like an anti-anxiety drug, making the stress of life easier to handle. Try to set goals for slowing your breathing, breathing more deeply, and clearing your mind whenever you have a break in your day.
Prayer: Prayer reminds us of what to be thankful for, what we should work on, and what we want out of life. Even if you do not belong to a particular religion, the principles of prayer help keep a person’s life healthy and balanced.
Relaxation: Relaxation should be a natural part of our days, but many of us do not schedule in this time. Time spent meditating or exercising can count as relaxation.
Sleep: Sleep often takes a back seat to work and relaxation, but a lack of sleep will quickly have an effect on our ability to achieve other goals. Try to set a goal of sleeping at least seven hours a night.
Stretch: Stretching is a proven benefit to mental and physical states. Stretching relaxes, improves blood flow to muscles, and improves flexibility. Try stretching at least once a day.
Vitamins: Vitamins should be a part of everyone’s daily regimen. A multi-vitamin, a Omega-3 supplement, and trace minerals are a good place to start.
Water: Water helps to combat fatigue and short tempers. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
Weight Watchers: Although everyone doesn’t need to diet, Weight Watchers is a healthy system for eating, and fits the format of E-VOUS well.
Work: Work can provide us with the means to live well, or can sometimes get in the way of our health and happiness. We have to balance the time we spend on work and relaxation.
